Exploring the Gen 3 Porsche Panamera: Upgraded Hybrid V8 Power and Dynamic Active Suspension Unveiled

Porsche-Panamera-Gen-3

Porsche enthusiasts in India have a reason to rejoice as the latest iteration of the iconic Panamera has hit the Indian market. The eagerly awaited third-gen Panamera has been globally unveiled, and Porsche wasted no time launching it in India, with official bookings set to commence next week.

The New Panamera's Price Tag and Features

The spotlight is on the standard V6 Panamera, now available for Indian aficionados at a starting price of Rs 1.68 crore (ex-showroom, India). It’s worth noting that this figure is exclusive of optional additions. The previous V6 Panamera was priced at Rs 1.57 crore, providing perspective on the incremental cost.

For the discerning buyer, the base model boasts notable features like 8-way adjustable electric seats, matrix LED headlights, six airbags, and a comprehensive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, it comes equipped with Porsche Communication Management (PCM), offering Navigation, Mobile Phone Preparation, Audio Interface, and Voice Control functionalities.

Unveiling Technical Marvels

Under the hood, the Panamera houses a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine paired with an 8-speed PDK auto transmission. The rear-wheel-drive configuration and a two-way adaptive rear spoiler contribute to an exhilarating driving experience. While exact power figures are yet to be disclosed, this model promises a fusion of power and precision.

No Hybrids for the Indian Market

Contrary to the global lineup, the Indian market won’t witness hybrid variants for the V6 and V8 models. Porsche has decided to forgo hybrids for India, citing low demand in the past. However, the GTS version, slated for an unveiling next year, will make its way to India, positioning itself as the most potent Panamera available. Unfortunately, the Turbo models, known for their hybrid capabilities, won’t be gracing Indian roads.

This strategic move also means that the cutting-edge, fully active suspension system won’t be available in India. The hybrid’s high voltage electrical system is a prerequisite for its operation. Consequently, Indian models will feature the semi-active air spring setup, maintaining a balance between performance and practicality.

Extended Options: Long Wheelbase and Future Prospects

In response to the high demand witnessed in China, Porsche is set to introduce an executive long wheelbase model alongside the regular wheelbase. This elongated version, with a 150mm extension, reaches an impressive overall length of 5.2 meters. Given the success of the previous long wheelbase Panamera in India, expectations are high for the new model to captivate the market.

Regrettably, fans of the Sport Turismo estate version might be disheartened, as Porsche has decided to discontinue this body style for the Panamera globally. Citing limited interest, the brand has reserved this distinctive style for the Taycan, aligning with evolving consumer preferences.

In conclusion, the new Porsche Panamera promises an exciting blend of performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology for Indian enthusiasts. With an array of models and configurations, Porsche continues to set the standard for sports sedans in the Indian market.
